Life in another country creates its own unique set of challenges and opportunities for growth and development. Unfortunately it may also put strain on precious relationships. I am very comfortable working with couples that go through such a phase of adjustment. In sessions I aim to tap into the couple’s core of strength and love, will work on de-escalating conflict, and work towards increased mutual understanding and improving communication. It goes without saying that my basic stance is neutral, non-blaming, and non-pathologizing.
My training has been in a wide range of techniques for couples therapy. I am a fully accredited family- and couples therapist, both in the United Kingdom and in the Netherlands. My working hours are divided between my post as a clinical psychologist at the Dutch national centre for the treatment of psychotrauma, and my private practice in Amsterdam.
